I had a fantastic time at the JRTCA National Trial! It was so great to see old friends and lots of exciting young dogs! I had worked really hard all Fall getting the dogs in condition for the show. I brought 5 dogs with me and was rewarded with ALL FIVE winning their classes! Windermere Tally was wonderful and won an exceptional and large Bred-By Exhibor Bitch class. “Molly” went on to be Reserve Best Bitch to the beautiful Little Eden Layla. Windermere Cosmic won his Puppy Conformation Class, Windermere Crew won the Neutered Working Dog class, Windermere Tiffany won her huge Puppy Class and then Best Puppy Bitch & Reserve Puppy Conformation Champion! For a needed break from the Conformation Ring, I took Ruckerhill Ariel out and she was crowned the 2014 National Ball Toss Champion!

The 2016 Hunting Season was definitely not one of our best! I had shoulder surgery in September, 2015 which negated my doing any digging until mid-summer. Still, I tried to get out as often as possible but Mother Nature didn’t want to cooperate. Extreme swings in winter weather conditions resulted in either an overload of snow or 60F weather! Either we couldn’t get to the dens or it was so warm out that nobody was home. Then the summer weather was excessively hot and limited the time one could safely work. We still managed to get quite a few dogs and owners started in the field and that is always rewarding! This year’s “hunting road trip” was to Ohio in December where I got a chance to catch up with old friends: Steve and Stewart Lewis and Stewart’s son Nathan. Frigid weather conditions didn’t stop us from having a great time and it was wonderful to be able to get some super mileage on my young dogs.

2016 Trial Season
Considering that we went to very few trials, I think we had a very good show season! We started off in April at the Virginia Trial where Pine Hill Digger was Puppy Conformation Champion and his litter brother: Pine Hill Dallas was Reserve Best Dog Puppy Then Digger traveled to North Carolina while I went to England and was Best Dog Puppy on Saturday & Sunday and Reserve Puppy Champion on Sunday Windermere Tiffany was Best Open Terrier at Mason-Dixon I. Our yearly “road trip trial” took us to the Dogwood Trial in Georgia and we had a great time and took home a car full of trophies and ribbons. Northgate was a great trial as always and Digger stepped up to the Adult division, winning Reserve Best Dog. Tiffany winning Reserve Best Bitch and Reserve Best Open Terrier. Windermere Cosmic was consistent all year; winning almost all of his classes, including the The 2016 National Trial . The National was fun as usual and a successful weekend for Windermere! Windermere Crew repeated his win in the Spayed/Neutered Working Terrier Class and Windermere Ticket showed she could fill Ariel’s paws in Ball Toss!

WINTER HUNTING: 2014-2015
We had a fantastic time hunting this winter. It is always so exciting to see a young dog “turn on€ť” or watch an experienced dog do a great “textbook€ť” job. I was privileged to hunt with a lot great dogs and people this season who took time off to come to Windermere to hunt. Thankfully, everyone returned safe and sound and we always had a great time! Highlight of the season had to be Windermere Tally earning an NC to Red Fox! Even though she has been working brilliantly for 5+ years, this time she was witnessed in the field by a JRTCA working judge. This November I even managed to fit in a trip to Indiana to hunt with Joe Shapiro and Ted Ely where Windermere Brazen and Windermere Tinsel earned NHC to Raccoon.
